About
Rutherfords England
Our Heritage
Founded to revive a lost art, we handcraft leather goods using patterns and tools from the late 19th century. Each piece is a continuation of English tradition.
Crafted in Cheshire
Every item is hand crafted in our workshop on the Cholmondeley Castle estate. Slow craft, patience, and pride shape everything we produce.
Built to Last
We use only the finest English bridle leather, solid brass fittings, and time-honoured techniques. Designed to age beautifully and carry for life.

Reviving a Forgotten Craft
At Rutherfords, we’ve brought new life to the near-lost art of handmaking classical English bridle leather goods. Each design is based on original 19th-century patterns, with our iconic Traditional Music Case still made using the very same press knives and tools from over a century ago.

Made in Cheshire, England
Our workshop is nestled on the historic Cholmondeley Castle estate, where every Rutherfords piece is handcrafted with care, precision, and respect for tradition. From cutting to stitching to burnishing, each step is performed entirely by hand.

Timeless Materials, Built to Last
We use only the finest English bridle leather — originally developed for equestrian use — known for its strength, smoothness, and ability to age beautifully. Over time, each piece develops a rich patina, telling the story of its use and becoming a true modern heirloom.
